Water Tank Installation
A reliable water supply for your sprinklers, hoses and the CFS.
Every bushfire defence system depends on a reliable water supply. Paterson Bushfire Defence installs dedicated firefighting water tanks across the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and Barossa, so your sprinklers, hose reels and the CFS have water when mains pressure fails.
How much water do you need?
In bushfire-prone areas, South Australia’s building standard (MBS 008) sets the size of the dedicated firefighting supply a new home needs. It ranges from 2,000 litres to 22,000 litres, depending on the bushfire risk, the Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assessed for the home, the size of the block and whether it is connected to mains water. We can help you work out what applies to your property.
Tanks and fittings that meet the standard
Above-ground firefighting tanks and their stands must be non-combustible, such as steel or concrete, because plastic tanks can fail in a fire. Where fire fittings are required, the tank needs a fire service outlet ending in a 65 mm Storz fitting with a valve, so CFS crews can connect to it, and a hard surface for fire trucks nearby. We install tanks and fittings to suit.
Your firefighting water can be a separate tank, or a reserve held in a larger tank that also supplies your home. Our licensed plumbers handle the full installation, including the tank base, outlet fittings and connection to your fire pump.
