Pump Installation

A pump that starts first time and delivers full pressure when it matters.

Your fire fighting pump is the heart of your bushfire defence system. If it fails to start, or cannot deliver enough pressure, your sprinklers and hoses will not protect your property. Paterson Bushfire Defence supplies and installs Davey and Reefe fire fighting pumps for homes, farms and businesses across the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and Barossa.

Built to South Australia’s bushfire standard

We install pumps driven by petrol or diesel engines so they operate independently of mains power, which is often lost during a bushfire. In bushfire-prone areas, South Australia’s building standard for dedicated firefighting water supplies (MBS 008) calls for a pump with an engine of at least 3.7 kW (5 hp), protected by a non-combustible cover, on a hard surface away from vegetation. We install to these requirements.

Sized to your system

Every pump is sized to the job. We work out how many sprinklers and hoses it needs to run at once, the distance and height it must push water, and the water supply it draws from. The result is a pump that delivers the pressure your system needs, not one that struggles on the day.

Our licensed plumbers handle the full installation: the pump pad and enclosure, connection to your tank, metal pipework to your sprinklers and hose reels, and a fire service outlet that CFS crews can connect to. Before we leave, we start and test the pump with you and show you how to run it.

FAQs

Should I choose a petrol or diesel fire pump?

Both are suitable. Petrol pumps cost less upfront, while diesel pumps suit larger systems and longer run times. We will recommend the right option for your property.

Why can't I use an electric pump?

Mains power often fails during a bushfire, so the standard requires a pump that runs independently of mains electricity.

Where should my fire pump be installed?

On a hard surface close to your water supply, away from vegetation, inside a non-combustible enclosure with good ventilation.

Can you replace my old fire pump?

Yes. We can remove your old pump and install a new one sized to your existing sprinklers and hoses.
